Brewing and Building

In the few days since our appearance at the annual Spring Craft Beer Festival held at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday March 27th, 2010, I have been marveling at the great reception The Long Island Beer & Malt Enthusiasts received at the show and how the follow up to that has continued in the forms of both press and viewer interest. Looking back from where we came from as a shared idea among three friends on a bumpy train ride to Brooklyn, NY three years ago to see the start up Sixpoint Brewery, it is good to see us moving forward with presentations of unique creations in beer and that this group is working to become a viable entity.

I would like to welcome all of the new viewers and members to the LIBME, as well as our existing supporters of our meaningful cause. It is through your interest, effort, and time that this organization is advancing and supporting the appreciation of craft beer on Long Island. As I think you will find, we are an open organization to new ideas and perspectives in relation to what we do, say, and plan upon.

Knowing this, I would encourage every visitor to the LI Beer & Malt sites to come to a few of our meetings and events to see if we interest them enough to become a Supporting Member of the LIBME. Supporting Members of the LIBME  bring us a world of help with advice, beers, clinics, friendly characters, and their time, which is worth far more than the annual dues of $20 could ever cover. These great contributors vote in our government and issues, show off their beers at shows we attend, and are working for a better beer community with us.

With that noted, the LIBME has more events to attend to with the famed Blue Point Cask Festival coming up on Saturday April 17th and the Bellport Tasting on Thursday June 10th for the benefit of the Lighthouse Mission Food Pantry and the Summer Camp Paquatuck for disabled children. On the horizon, I can see my personal favorite show at Martha Clara Vineyards coming up in August.

We have a lot to do this year and we welcome all who share in our mission.
