Study Group and Brewing Clinic Schedule (Proposed)

October 30th, 2008 · No Comments

Those of you at our kick-off study session said you enjoyed doing a focused tasting of many examples of a single style of beer (I think we did something like 15 different Oktoberfest beers).  So we’ll be continuing our study session once a month on a Thursday evening at 7:30 pm (see the Long Island Beer Calender for exact dates).  The next Beer Style Study Group meeting will be on Thursday, the 13th of November.  The December BSSG meeting will be on the 18th.

I’d like to add a monthly Brewing Clinic.  We’ve got a lot of homebrewers in our group, so I hoping that they can share their knowledge and enthusiam for making beer with our members who focus more on the taste appreciation aspect.  The Brewing Clinic will be held on a Saturday at a LIBME homebrewer’s home.  We’ll need some volunteers to host and to be in charge of the brew.  Attendees of the Brewing Clinic will participate in the brew and contribute to a common fund that will help purchase ingredients and LP gas, probabaly $5 a head will be sufficient.  At the Brewing Clinic we’ll have a keg of beer for our libational enjoyment while the brew is going on.  Once the beer is brewed, it will be brought to a future meeting of the Beer Style Study Group for evaluation.

Here’s a proposed schedule for the Brewing Clinic for 2009:

  1. January: Saison/Biere de Garde
  2. February: Scotch Ale
